I’ve been doing email adswaps for many years to build my list. An email adswap is where you promote someone else’s squeeze page offer to your list, while they promote your offer to their list.
When I first started doing email adswaps back in 2009 there were a few scammers out there but overall the quality of the traffic was good and the process was pretty straightforward (as mentioned above).
Today, it is a different story.
Many list builders today are not interested in building a relationship with their list. They don’t even display their name anywhere. It’s all about getting leads, monetizing them fast and using them to get more leads via doing more adswaps. Some of these list builders send as many as 8 emails per day to their list!
When I’m doing an adswap with anyone, I have them read and agree to the following:
*** To All Adswap Partners ***
I, John, agree to promote your offer to my own personal email optin list as a direct email broadcast. I will promote your offer the best way I can (NO generic messages) so that the clicks I send you will be highly responsive.
I will not send you any PPV, PTC, traffic exchange, safelist, exit pop-up, link rotator, splash page, thank you page, ‘bonuses’ traffic and the like.
I expect the same in return. If you cannot agree to this please do not accept my adswap request.

Just today, a good friend of mine, Deepo Thomas, who I met years ago as an adswap partner, wrote this about me on the Safe Swaps forum:
“I have been adswapping with John for over 5 years now, and a guy that I have traded some very targeted traffic with and sales and commissions and leads over and over and over again …
Many props to John as he NEVER wavered and succumbed to any of those poor practices, not once.
Regretfully, what qualifies me more to rant and criticize against any of these poor spammy practices, it I actually tried some of them in an attempt to keep up with other adswap partners and I know first hand the difference and know the results of doing both. In early 2011, I actually burned and ruined some excellent lists I had built and had leads that faithfully followed me for years with the generic swipe and link rotators.
While John never wavered, I had to learn the hard way !!
So mucho respect for John and anyone here that has swapped with him knows the kind of quality in leads he delivers …”
